img_0860I went to my first NW Steelheaders meeting a few weeks ago where I got a tip from two Fish & Wildlife biologists about steelhead counts on coastal rivers. One of them told me about how they’d counted 125 steelhead in one pool on the upper Wilson, so I had to check it out. Continue reading


Umatilla River

IMG_0805This time I put my trust in my brother in law to lead me to fish, as this was my first time fishing in Eastern Oregon and I didn’t really know what to expect. As of this post it’s August, so the water was low all around, and even the lower section of the river below 3 Mile Dam was barely over knee deep. We were probably a mile from the mouth, and who knows how many miles from the next accessible spot upstream. Continue reading
